About the author:

Al-Ghazali (1058 - 1111), a towering figure in Islam, was born at Tus, near Mashhad in Iran, in the early Seljuk era. He wrote a large number of works, of which his magnum opus was the Ihya' Ulum al-Din (The Revival of the Religions Sciences) compiled during his period of retirement and contemplation.
